"The Sörenstam SG-66A2 is an anti-matériel multistage coilgun designed as a precise anti-armor solution for long- to medium-range engagements. Despite the recoil having already been reduced significantly via multiple inertial compensators, the SG-66 series is only rated for use by powered infantry. In addition, the SG-66A2 does not accept scope attachments, instead relying on a AUGN-III integrated smart-linked scope array.¹ This limited its usefulness for armor systems that did not possess AUGRE-compatible targeting systems. However, in AUGRE-compatible suits, the SG-66A2 was found to be extremely formidable, due to the AUGN-AUGRE synchronization effectively transforming the suit into a dedicated weapons platform. Oddly, the SG-66A2 is also fired by the AUGRE link, although some sources state the existence of a backup manual trigger, normally concealed inside a hatch in front of the trigger grip.
Unfortunately, it was described as being 'too unwieldy' for most powered armors to use;² this and its limited compatibility resulted in the discontinuation of the weapon in 2904. 127 SG-66A2s were confirmed to have been produced. SG-66A2s were estimated to have destroyed more than 19,000 tons of armor during its brief appearance in the ComBloc war.³
No serials are known to have survived the ComBloc war, nor do records exist for its performance.⁴ However, estimates place the effective maximum range at 4,200 meters. The magazine held six 16mm SPKE "Requiem" ferromagnetic rounds. The SG-66A2 was described as "very large," with sources stating the length varying from 1700 mm to 2000 mm. It is also speculated the SG-66A2 possessed an adaptive camouflage system."
